Autism Screenings
Accurate Insights. Timely Support. Personalized Care.
At Paragon Autism Services, our counselors are specifically trained to assess and provide provisional diagnoses for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This initial evaluation is crucial as wait times for comprehensive medical evaluations can delay the ability to receive treatment. A provisional diagnosis of ASD allows individuals and families to start the necessary treatments and receive support promptly, facilitating early intervention.
For individuals who receive a provisional ASD diagnosis, we recommend following up with a full medical evaluation by a doctor. This step can help provide differential diagnoses and refine treatment recommendations.
Our diagnostic toolkit includes:
The ADOS-2 Observational Assessment
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a gold-standard, activity-based standardized assessment widely recognized for its effectiveness in diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). During the assessment, our trained counselors carefully observe and evaluate the individual’s social communication skills, interactions, play skills, and repetitive behaviors. This detailed examination provides crucial insights into their unique strengths and challenges, offering a comprehensive understanding of each individual’s specific needs related to autism. The ADOS-2 is instrumental in ensuring accurate diagnoses and informing the development of personalized treatment plans.
The ADI-R Caregiver Interview
The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) is a comprehensive, standardized interview designed to assess Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Conducted with a parent or caregiver familiar with the individual’s history, this interview delves deeply into the individual’s developmental milestones and current behaviors. It consists of 93 targeted questions that explore various aspects of behavior, providing a detailed profile of the individual. Taking approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to complete, the ADI-R is a critical tool in accurately diagnosing autism, distinguishing it from other developmental disorders, and shaping effective intervention strategies.
